Description

So I decided to download some mouse tracking software and run it while playing four different games – Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Unreal Tournament 3, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, and a brief stint in Minecraft. This program ran from 10AM Thursday until about 2AM on Friday. The resulting ‘graph’ produces what I consider to be a unique piece of abstract art, perfect for your stupid modular, angular apartment or your retro-chique lifestyle.

Individual lines represent mouse movement, while dots represent clicks. The larger the dot, the longer the button was held. Black dots are the left mouse button, white dots are the right mouse button. You can tell what game I was playing during certain parts.

Since Minecraft is almost entirely based on clicking, and the huge black circle can be seen in the lower left-of-center area, obscured by my later Unreal 3 cocaine-spiked rampage. Since every game played is a FPS, the vast majority of the recorded mouse movement lines travel in a horizontal pattern, illustrated in the upper central area where the mouse spent a lot of time navigating terrain. Not many aerial targets, it appears to be. Only one dragon encounter in Skyrim, so not much of an up-down influence.

Skyrim, MW3, and Unreal 3 are almost indistinguishable from each other, as the mechanics of each game are nearly identical.

I have also run this program while using my tablet, which has yielded even stranger results, often duplicating large portions of sketches in exact detail, sometimes overlapping, depending on where and how I’m zoomed in on my canvas.

Anyway, enjoy it.
